THE ABASTO PROJECT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM! Minimize

Announcing the Abasto Project Internship Program

Abasto is offering semester (or term)-based internships to qualified university students interested in working on the exciting Abasto Project.

Internships may result in course credits according to university requirements.

Our Internship Objective

The Abasto Interns will personally interview and document every Hispanic store and restaurant in every major city in the United States.

Direct Benefits for the Sponsoring University

The university or organization will have the opportunity to submit articles for publication in Abasto magazine, network with other professors in the Abasto Community and sponsor Abasto conferences and events.

Direct Benefits for the Participating Interns

Students will be able to use practical journalism, interviewing, and communication skills, practice their Spanish (if applicable), as well as travel and explore their city working with multi-cultural business professionals.  They will also gain valuable class credit hours for their work while becoming a vital part of the Abasto Community; working with other interns across the nation, all while building a professional addition to their resume.

Some of the locations to be interviewed include:
  • Restaraunts
  • Supermarkets
  • Convenience Stores
  • Bakeries
  • Cafes
  • Taco Stands

Students will be required to interview with the Abasto Team and, during the project, attend bi-monthly in-person or video conferences.  They will then be required to meet a minimum number of work hours during the semester.
